I was amused this week to see news reports that people had accused Derren Brown of creating COVID-19. The mentalist commented that:
“People were saying I’d created Covid and it wasn’t true... I tend to get blamed initially for anything that seems like a big experiment.”
The accusation that any entertainer, let alone Derren Brown, had created the virus is laughable. But I thought it would be amusing to ask an A.I. tool that I use to explain why Derren could not have created COVID. Here's what the A.I. came up with:
1. Lack of Knowledge. Derren Brown is a mentalist, not a virologist. He has no formal training in microbiology or virology and therefore would not have the knowledge necessary to create COVID-19.
2. Lack of Funding. It is highly unlikely that a single individual could have funded the creation of COVID-19. The virus is estimated to have cost tens of millions of dollars to create and would require a significant amount of resources and funding.
3. Lack of Motivation. Derren Brown has no motive to create COVID-19. He is not a scientist and does not stand to gain anything from the creation of a virus.
So there you have it. Instead of inventing the pandemic, he's probably just been creating illusions or something.
