Derren Brown Svengali FAIL?

I understand that at one of Derren Brown's Svengali shows last month, the Svengali prop failed to work. Did you witness that failure? or is the apparent failure part of his routine?

I'm not asking for any spoilers here -- you can just leave a comment stating the date you went to the show and whether the machine worked. Thanks!
